Jenna Kay Duxbury

Work

I am an artist, project manager, musician, grant writer, and more. My unique career path is driven by the desire to create and participate in meaningful expressions of art and community.

Some of my first jobs were playing piano and leading Sunday morning worship at the United Methodist Churches in small rural communities where I grew up in Michigan. In college, I became more involved in the artistic design of inclusive worship through the Wesley Foundation of Kalamazoo as I completed my undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University.

Exploring progressive theologies and the intersection between spirituality and the arts led me to pursue an internship and eventually a full-time staff position with Dr. Marcia McFee, internationally acclaimed ritual arts scholar and worship leader. I began my work at the Worship Design Studio in 2015 as a social media coordinator and content creator. Over time, my roles have expanded into project management, high-level customer service, CRM database management, tech support and trouble-shooting, vendor liaisons, marketing, web asset development and maintenance, bookkeeping, and online and on-site event facilitation. I provide essential support for nearly all the operations of the Worship Design Studio online community, both from a technical standpoint and as an artist and creator. In addition to my logistical responsibilities, I write liturgy, record music, create visual meditation videos, offer pastoral support, and design ritual experiences that bring communities together.

Outside my work with churches, I had the wonderful privilege of teaching private piano and voice lessons from 2017-2020 at Musicologie Studios in Columbus, Ohio. I worked with students of all ages to establish strong foundations in music theory and develop critical skills for music literacy and performance. My areas of particular specialty are in ear training, sight-reading, and improvisation.

I also have experience with grant writing and brand identity! My undergraduate degree in Rhetoric and Writing Studies was a vigorous and eclectic program that equipped me with skills in professional brand design, grant writing, technical writing, and other communication tools.
